He has been with several bands over the years. Today, Petter is mainly a songwriter and Composer of songs and scores for TV- and advertising. Petter’s songs are often quite complex, atmospheric and slightly moody – along the line of music from such artists as Peter Gabriel and Scritti Politti

He wrote the 1st. single of the critically acclaimed album «Music of the night» by Jan Werner Danielsen (Universal Music), and has also released to albums himself

Dag Kolsrud, (featured on A-ha’s “Hunting High and Low tour” as their keyboardist) representing MD Records, once said to the Norwegian magazine “NÅ” (1991), “Petter Samuelsen can, with the right kind of marketing, be really big in the music business”. The goal of MD Records was to scout for upcoming talents in Norway and to help them break into markets abroad. In a radio interview he once pronounced that “Petter Samuelsen sparks of identity and we’re gonna take his music abroad”. - This lead to a record deal for Petter Samuelsen with MD Records – for two albums with the option of another two (total of four).

Worldwide agreements with Polygram Publishing in 1994 and EMI Music Publishing in 1998. - The catalog is currently represented by Sony Music Publishing and Universal Music Publishing - They are the kind of music publishers every songwriter would be proud to have in their corner.

"Silence" was originally released on vinyl by RCA / Victor in 1979 - In 1992 Petter signed MD Records. - In 1994 Polygram Music Publishing signed Petter Samuelsen to a worldwide deal - Today Universal Music Publishing Group. - In 1998 EMI Music Publishing signed Petter Samuelsen to a Worldwide Deal - In 2013 EMI songs migrated to Sony Music Publishing.

Petter was active in the Pop / Rock environment in Stavanger in the 70s and 80s with the groups Ara Pacis, Wasaband, Ellis and Bandage. Wrote "Silence" in 1974 together with band colleague Frode Haraldstad from Wasaband. "Silence" was recorded with Ellis in 1979 after a record deal with RCA / Victor.

In 1994 Polygram Music Publishing signed Petter Samuelsen to a worldwide deal - Today Universal Music Publishing Group.

Petter Samuelsen "Art Music Moments" DVD & CD in the library catalog of the Norwegian Academy of Music - Former member of the Stavanger Cathedral Choir Motet. - Also recorded an album with the choir and performed Bach’s Christmas Oratorio together with the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra.
